Opening:

VOB108 was called to order at 12:05p on April 12, 2012 at DeVry University, Dayton Ohio by President, Mike Nichols.

Present:

Members: Mike Nichols, President; Tania Nakama, Administrative Officer; Neal Yoke; Bob Leibecke; David Esrati; David Dunn, Bill Brownsberger, Earl Gregorich

Guests: Meredith Threatt, Consultant; Paul Salchak; Larry Deem; Wally Gore; Bob Holt; Paul W. Zanowick; Mike Womack

Open Issues

Name change for organization: Discussion surrounding the name change involved many different details including what would be included in the logo. The consensus was the new name is VOBOhio (capitalization needs to be determined/finalized for consistency). Logo discussion was tabled for another time.

New Mission Statement: VOBOhio ensures the success of our veteran owned businesses through education, consultation and mentoring.

New Business

Meredith Threatt led discussion regarding website redesign and solicited input from the group. Suggestions included:

a. Membership directory that is searchable by: Name, Industry, NAICs Codes, Capabilities List and all should have a link to the member and/or website.

b. Event Calendar to include local, state and national events and links to event registration.

c. Links to NVOBA and Buy Veteran campaign

d. Job and Resume Board

e. Membership application and payment options

f. Resources section that contains contacts for the SBA, PTAC and other organizations

g. Suggested the date, time and place of the next scheduled meeting be prominently posted on every page for ease of discovery.

h. A link/button to the VOBOhio LinkedIn and Facebook pages.

i. Link to www.Ohiomeansjobs.com website

2. Nominations for Treasurer were opened. Bob Liebecke nominated Tania Nakama. Dan Sack seconded the motion. The vote was unanimous.

Networking was conducted with members and guests introducing themselves. Tania Nakama suggested that at each meeting, a member should partner with a guest to provide a “mentor” into the group. This was accomplished for the first time at this meeting.

Adjournment:

Meeting was adjourned at 1:30pm by Mike Nichols. The next general meeting will be at 12:00pm on May 10, 2012 at the same location.

Minutes submitted by: Tania Nakama, Treasurer and Administrative Officer

Approved by: Mike Nichols, President
