The VA’s Office of Inspector General  released a report on Monday,
25-July 2011, detailing the fraud found in their inspection of the
VOSB and SDVOSB VA’s procurement/award program.  According
to the report nearly 76% of the selected 42 companies reviewed
were “either ineligible to participate in the programs or
for the awarded contracts“.  The entire 53 page
pdf document is available at the following web address:

After reading the findings you may understand why the VA has instituted
their stringent certification process for both VOSB’s and SDVOSB’s.

An Introduction to Customer Relations Management (CRM) Software Applications

Do you, as a VOB/SDVOB business owner, need a CRM application?
How much will it cost?  How will it effect my Bottom Line?
It the application easy to Learn and UseRead on.

When most of us started in business, a Rolodex and a Franklin Planner were the
tools we used to “manage our customers”- but, with the computers and the internet

projects and stay on top of business.  This meeting will introduce you to CRM-
customer relationship management systems- from ACT to Salesforce on
the commercial side- to all kinds of other options including some Open Source
(Free! Solutions) like vTiger.  We’ll also look at some productivity tools like FengOffice
and TeamBox- which aren’t really CRM systems, but can help get your organization
working better as a team Once you have an idea of what CRM software is capable of-
we’ll look at options for VOB108 to use to keep track of all our connections with
Governent Points of contact and Prime contractors who have expressed interest in
working with VOBs.  The meeting is free- the information is valuable- and the pizza is $5.

Before Teaming, Do Some Research on your Prospective Partners http://vob108.org/?p=686 http://vob108.org/?p=686#comments Fri, 15 Apr 2011 14:43:53 +0000 David Esrati http://vob108.org/?p=686

From Rudy Sutherland, via LinkedIn Veterans Business Owners Group:

every Small Business owner considering Teaming, Joint Ventures, or Mentor-Protege relationships should make it a point to look-up the prospective firm for the venture in the “Excluded Parties List” database. Firms in this DB have, for some reason or another, been banned from doing business at the Federal Level and could be looking to prostitute your firm as cover.
Go to: https://www.epls.gov/ to look-up firms that you want potentially work with BEFORE investing any time and resources into the relationship.Be smart.

via Before Teaming, Do Some Research on your Prospective Partners… | LinkedIn.

EPLS is the Excluded Parties List System-  according to the site:

This World Wide Web site is provided as a public service by General Services Administration (GSA) for the purpose of efficiently and conveniently disseminating information on parties that are excluded from receiving Federal contracts, certain subcontracts, and certain Federal financial and nonfinancial assistance and benefits, pursuant to the provisions of 31 U.S.C. 6101, note, E.O. 12549, E.O. 12689, 48 CFR 9.404, and each agency’s codification of the Common Rule for Nonprocurement suspension and debarment.

Sometimes people who have been banned, may approach you as an SDVOB to attempt to joint-venture to skirt the process.
